Today it’s about lightning app builder. It’s the one which helps us create new page layouts in new Lightning Experience. Earlier after we enabled the lightning experience, there was no way to edit the layouts. But in Spring Lightning App Builder was introduced as PILOT. This article is about the pilot feature.
To start with you will have to enable the Lightning App Builder.
Go to setup and in Quick Find type Lightning App Builder. Once you see the below page enable the feature and save it.
Click on New to create a new lightning page. The system will ask you what kind of layout you are going to build. We will use Record Page for now.
Once you select new record page , you will have to select the layout you want.
Select the layout you want , give it a name and select the object for which we will be showing the records here.
Once you are done with the above steps you will get a layout as below. You can pretty much do all placement and customization by dragging and dropping. You can drag various components from the right panel and drop it to the middle place holders.
You can add your visualforce pages to it as well, like the geolocation page added to the below layout. You can add report charts, record details, related list etc. You can build your own lightning components and add it too.
Once page is build and you are on the record page you can directly edit by going in to the below option.
