What is Quip ?
Quip is a word processing cloud platform, founded by former CTO of Facebook along with his co-founder from Google in the year 2012. Interesting part is Mark from Salesforce was also one of the investor of the company. The tagline of quip says: “The Living Document”.
This helps to collaborate in real time for creating documents, discuss and organize stuff team is working on . It can be used by various business units in an organization. Typically organizations have development team, HR department, Finance department, procurement and IT etc. Each department can use it differently and the way the departments want. It can be shared across the organization if needed. You can pretty much socialize and work in quip workspace. You will almost forget your email inbox 🙂 .
A quick look at quip !
I will be sharing a couple of things about this below:
You can try for some time free of cost, if you would like. I am sure you will like it a bit.
You can create a quick site for your team, where everyone from your team is contributing and collaborating. As the tag line says, it’s a living document for your job. Here for this post, I have created a site : https://getthekt.quip.com/. It’s quite easy to setup, just give a name to it. Have some clips for you below. Once created the site, you will land on the home page, where you can start creating your first living document or invite your team to start contributing.
Create a document, insert image to it and share with the team to comment on it and share their thoughts on it. Once all looks good you can share the document to other department may be for approval. Once approved may be they can share the same file to procurement or so on. Possibilities are endless.
