Salesforce.com – Spring 16 Preview 2 Global Picklist

Next one in the series. … Global picklist. .. Don’t catch me if these features are not released in near future 😊.

This is a normal picklist but available globally in one salesforce instance. Few screen shots related to the feature.

Step 1:

Under create setup menu goto picklist.

Step 2:
Create a new picklist.

Step 3:

Select any object in which you want this picklist values. In this example i have used Account object. Create a new field of type picklist. Here you can select the global picklist you created in previous steps.

Step 4:

You can now access the same values in the picklist without having to add new values.

Use Case:

Sometimes we need the same picklist values in multiple objects. Earlier we had to create and add the values multiple times. As I have done it and I am sure you might have done it as well in the past, is simple copy paste, which might some time add extra character.
