This is a old news may be for some but I am sure many have forgot this already after they heard about this initially. So, thought of reminding again as we are close to the dates : Be Lightning Ready by the Winter ’20 Release!.
Be Lightning Ready by the Winter ’20 Release!
Like it or not, Lightning is the Salesforce preferred UI. Over a period of time, we have been pushing lots of code for VisualForce pages..tons of them. Now, they are all seems to be outdated 🙂 Starting in October 2019 with the Winter ’20 release, Salesforce will turn on Lightning Experience for all orgs on a rolling basis. When it’s turned on, users with the Lightning Experience User permission enabled will see the ‘Switch to Lightning Experience’ link in Salesforce Classic and be automatically switched into Lightning Experience on a regular basis. Kind of forcing the users to user Lightning Experience primarily. This change applies to Group, Developer, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions for orgs that don’t yet have Lightning Experience turned on yet.
Next step:
1. Run the Readiness Check found in Setup
You will get a PDF once completed with all suggestions. Go to : https://lightning-configuration.salesforce.com/visualforce-pages.xhtml for your Visualforce page scanning :
Once analysis is done you will get a file with all recommendations:
2. Turn on Lightning Experience for yourself or in a sandbox and test-drive your most used pages
3. Review your user profiles and permission sets so you know who has Lightning Experience access
4. Update your Reports & Dashboards leveraging Lightning Experience features
5. Migrate your Visualforce pages to lightning (This might need you to update your classes as well)
Conclusion
So, get ready for the move. Apart from your visualforce pages, nothing else should be critical to change. Reference were taken from : https://admin.salesforce.com/be-lightning-ready-by-the-winter-20-release
